You Don't Have to Build Your Entire Online Business at Once
Start with Business 1.0 to build one complete customer experience, and then grow from there.
If you're an experienced professional building an online business around your expertise, you've probably discovered that there are a lot of moving parts. Websites, lead generators, email marketing, sales pages, online courses, coaching programs, communities, and more.
It's easy to feel that you need to get everything in place before launching. But you don't have to build your entire online business all at once.
This week, we're exploring a more practical approach: Start with a revenue-generating offer, build the capabilities needed to support it, and then expand your business incrementally.
Doctor’s Notes
Start Small, But Think Long-Term
One of the most important distinctions I make when helping experienced professionals build online businesses is the difference between building online assets and building an operational business.
A website is an asset. So is an online course, a sales page, or an email sequence. But none of those assets necessarily constitutes a functioning business by itself. What matters is how they work together to attract prospective customers, generate revenue, and deliver meaningful results.
That's why I recommend thinking of your online business as a revenue-generating capital asset that evolves through successive versions. Your initial Business 1.0 doesn't need every possible capability. It just needs enough to accomplish your first business goal. Then you can improve and expand it as you learn from experience.

Build Your Online Business One Sprint at a Time
You can launch your first revenue-generating online business without building a complete website, elaborate marketing funnel, or extensive collection of online courses.
In this week's Online Profits Insight, I introduce a practical approach to building an online business through focused implementation projects called sprints.
Drawing on my experience leading software development teams, I explain how each sprint can implement the interconnected assets and processes needed to support one complete, operational customer experience. Then you combine these customer experiences to build and operate your online business.

Imagine getting a free trial of Kajabi and using the trial period to build and launch your first revenue-generating offer before the trial ends, so that your sales revenues could help cover the platform license fee!
That's the opportunity I encourage people to consider with my Kajabi Launch program.
Rather than trying to master every feature, focus on implementing one complete customer experience that enables you to sell and deliver your expertise. With the right initial business design, you could potentially begin generating revenue before your first subscription payment comes due.
The Kajabi Launch program includes a private Kajabi onboarding session plus professional services and private coaching to get you ready to launch in 30 days.
Plus, if you sign up for the free trial today Kajabi has indicated that you would be eligible for a special offer that Kajabi is planning for Black Friday. In addition, I will give you a complimentary VIP ticket to my upcoming five-day Design Your Online Business Workshop in mid-November.
I'll share more about this opportunity in Friday's Online Experts Roundtable.
